This is a good song.
Blood Orange- Coastal Grooves
you guys, this is perfect for lazy summer days. PERFECT.
this is Dev Hynes’ first album as Blood Orange and I’m feelin the minimalistic take on 80’s electronica and slowed down boogie funk. Also, Dev’s vocals leave me weak at the knees.
Julie Doiron - Broken Girl
this album is really really good despite its stupid name. julie doiron was the girl in eric’s trip and she has the prettiest voice in the world. this whole album is super nostalgic and kind of dreamy and the songs are really simple but very honest and everyone should download it stat. she also uses pretty chords a lot like maj7 chords and stuff its just nice download it
Emperor X - Western Teleport
Emperor X is the weirdo art pop project of Chad Matheny and I’m full blown obsessed with him and this album. He marries incredibly inventive and charming songwriting that feels like a remnant of a technological age with very clever pop musicianship. Think OK Computer if it was a full blown indie pop album with John Darnielle-esque crooning vocals. Emperor X is also an incredible treat live. I caught him a few weeks ago and it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in years and made me really excited about music.
Eldritch Anisette - Self-titled 7”
90’s group from Delaware. Their last.fm page says they’re midwest emo which is true but they don’t suck. The female vocalist is really cool and sounds a lot like 90’s alternative rock.
barlow - fell asleep ep
barlow hail from erie, pa and play lo fi dream pop/shoegaze stuff but really catchy and with like j mascis solos. the tone of all the songs feels warm and makes you want to lay down in grass for a while. erie seems pretty bland from what i’ve seen so it’s cool that good stuff comes out of there, saint walker will be stuck in your head for days i promise.
Mykki Blanco- Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/Ss Mixtape
campy as heck, it’s amazing
The Velvet Underground- Live at the Boston Tea Party 1969
Oh are we using this again?
Nostalgist - Monochromantic
Hailing from Seattle, Nostalgist are a new band that plays an ethereal brand of shoegaze and 80’s post-punk. Buried underneath the gloomy guitars and booming, deep vocals are some really beautiful melodies and musicianship that’s not unlike Kevin Shield’s more recent work, making Monochromantic a fantastic debut.
